Dear Voter

I am delighted to be standing as an Independent Councillor Candidate for Friends of Brighton and Hove in Wish Ward.

I was born and bred in Brighton and Hove and have lived in Hove my whole life so it’s a place close to my heart.

As a younger resident I care deeply about the future of our city.

I am against:

  • LTN – Low Traffic Neighborhoods
  • Mini Holland
  • ULEZ – Ultra Low Emissions Zones
and any other crazy traffic scheme which punishes and fines ordinary people trying to live ordinary lives.

I believe we need to focus on evidence-based environmentalism such as planting more trees, protecting green spaces and encouraging community garden projects rather than ideological theories and punishing those who can least afford it, despite the fact poorer people cannot afford to be the over-consumers

There is also no excuse for disability discrimination, which has happened all over the city under the current council administration as their parking spaces disappear.

I work for an Independent retailer in Portslade and deliveries and nearby customer parking is vital to our survival. We have already noticed that local traffic restrictions have had a negative impact on business and the more parking bays and meters are removed, the worse this will become. So parking restrictions are a massive issue which need looking into as neither businesses or residents are benefitting and huge amounts of public money are being spent and parking fees lost through this.

Before the council thinks about spending millions on large impractical projects like Mini Holland we must prioritize sorting out our basic services like , clean working public toilets, regular bin collections and funding for local youth clubs just to name a few.

Please vote for me on 4th May. A fresh pair of eyes on the city’s issues and working for you.
